92 Point Saint-Émilion

Château La Croix Bonneau is a modest property of four hectares in the village of Montagne, just north of Saint-Émilion. Eric Salmon and his family purchased the estate in 2005 with a goal to improve the overall quality of the wine by lowering yields to improve concentration, updating the fermentation equipment, and implementing extensive sorting to ensure only the finest grapes are chosen for their grand vin.

Château La Croix Bonneau
Montagne Saint-Émilion 2016
80% Merlot 20% Cabernet Sauvignon
$49.99 per bottle

Crowned one of the best vintages to ever come out of Bordeaux, 2016 offers rich, ripe fruit with a tannic structure that gives a promise of cellar longevity. The first half of the year was exceedingly wet and the second half was bone dry. Combine these two and the resulting wines are incredibly well-balanced.

This wine has aged nicely. It's just waiting for you to enjoy! The colour is a deep and brilliant red. The big, lush nose opens with time to get more intense with notes of small black fruit, chocolate and vanilla. The palate is deliciously silky and balanced. A lovely reminder of why Bordeaux is known for elegance and balance. Pair with New York strip with roasted garden vegetables or Boeuf Bourguignon. 92 points from Wine Enthusiast.
