Must-Try Margaux

Château La Tour de Mons is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc as it has a history that dates back 700 years to the 13th century and ranks among Bordeaux's all-time greatest. Taking its name from Pierre de Mons, who renamed the property after purchasing it in 1623. Château La Tour de Mons recently changed ownership in 2020 from the renowned CA Grands Crus to the Perrodo family, who already own two close neighbors: Château Labégorce Margaux and Château Marquis d’Alesme, an 1855 Grand Cru Classé. Marquis de Mons is the second wine of the Margaux estate La Tour de Mons. A blend of Merlot and Cabernet-Sauvignon grapes that are hand-harvested and sorted rigorously. Parcel by parcel vinification in thermoregulated stainless steel and 12 months in oak barriques ensure that this wine is charming in its youth and after a decade or so in the cellar. The nose is marked by the fruit that is also apparent on the palate. This is a generous and opulent wine with fine tannins.

The 2016 vintage in Margaux has widely been considered a must-try year. With 5 years of age, this wine is in the perfect spot to drink now but equipped with enough structure and acid to develop and evolve over the next 3-8 years.

NOSE

Margaux is known for aromatics and this delivers. Captivating layers of cranberry, plum and white flower.

TASTE

Light yet decadent, the uplifting acidity balances a pure expression of fruit; voluptuous plum and crunchy cranberry are followed closely by an underlying floral characteristic. This is a tremendous Bordeaux wine with subtle toasted notes, smooth tannins and a well-rounded mouthfeel.
