Radiant Rosso & Rich Riserva

Tuscany's Rosso di Montepulciano is the perfect wine to be enjoyed on a late afternoon lunch and versatile enough to pair with a variety of appetizers from bruschetta to charcuterie. They offer fresh fruit, bright acid and easy drinkability. Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva is the older brother with a little more meat on his bones due to the extra aging and oak influence. Riserva's can develop characteristics from nuts and earth to leather and tobacco.

Gattavecchi
Rosso di Montepulciano 2017
90% Sangiovese 10% Native Grapes DOC
$31.99 per bottle

Known locally as Prugnolo gentile, Rosso di Montepulciano is the baby brother to Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The wines are aged for a minimum of six months, as opposed to 24 months for the Vino Nobile.

The bouquet is delicate with scents of wild berry and scorched earth. The rounded palate offers dried black cherry, star anise and ground clove alongside dusty tannins that leave a drying finish. Lovely with cured meats or dishes that feature fresh tomatoes.

Gattavecchi
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva 2015
100% Sangiovese DOCG
$55.99 per bottle

By law, Nobile's can only be produced from vineyards surrounding the town of Montepulciano. The riserva's are aged for a minimum of three years and one of those years takes place in oak barrels or casks.

Only 500 cases were produced of this 2015 Riserva. The aromas are ripe and powerful. Notes of cherry, earth and mineral with a touch of smoke on the long, rustic finish. It's full-bodied with big, structured tannins. This will develop and evolve very well over the next 10-15 years. Pair with wild boar or charred steak.
